Minister Valarie Houston-Watkins is the daughter of Bill Houston and Phyllis Houston. Receiving her education through the Rowan-Salisbury School System, Minister Houston-Watkins graduated from Salisbury High School and later graduated from Salisbury Business College. She is currently employed at Freightliner Trucking company, where she has been employed for over 28 years.
She is married to Jeff Watkins. They have three children: LaShonda, Sierra, and Jay. They also have three grandchildren: Sanaa, Kaidence, and Sebastian.
She is a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was licensed to preach under her pastor, Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken. Along with her primary role as an Associate Minister at Jerusalem Baptist Church, she also serves additional roles with the Pastor’s Aid Committee, the Annie Dukes Missionary Mission, the Prayer Team Ministry, the Kitchen Committee, and the Food Pantry Ministry. Moreover, Minister Houston-Watkins values her dedication to youth and elderly ministerial service, which is near and dear to her heart. She is not ashamed of her love for God and her love for God’s people.
